How it works
Three steps. About five minutes if you have your details on hand.
Pick a template
Browse the gallery and click any template that fits the role you're applying for. The builder asks you to sign in with your Google account — it's free, and it's the only account step there is. ATS-friendly templates are best for online job applications. Modern and Creative templates work well when a recruiter or hiring manager will read it directly. Academic CVs are multi-page. Biodata is for matrimonial use.
You can switch templates later without losing your edits, as long as you stay within the same category.
Fill the form
The form panel on the left has a section for each part of your resume. Click a section to expand it. Drag the handle to reorder sections. Use the eye icon to hide a section without deleting it.
You can also add a custom section (e.g. Volunteering, Certifications) using the "Add a section" button. Custom sections support paragraphs and bullet lists.
Tweak the accent color, typeface, and font size from the topbar. Your work is saved to your browser as you type — refreshing won't lose anything.
Download the PDF
Click Download PDF. Your browser's print dialog opens. For the cleanest output:
- Set Margins to None.
- Uncheck Headers and footers (otherwise your browser adds the URL and date).
- Choose Save as PDF as the destination.
The output is 8.5×11" (US Letter). Most ATS systems accept this size.
What about my data?
Your resume never leaves your browser — there is no server that stores it. Signing in with Google shares only your basic account identity (name, email, photo) with us, never your resume. Read more on the privacy page.
Frequently asked questions
Is MyFirstResume free?
Yes. MyFirstResume is fully free — just sign in with your Google account. No paywall, no charges. The whole builder runs in your browser.
Does my resume data leave my browser?
No. There is no backend. Everything you type — names, emails, photos — stays in your browser's local storage. You can clear it any time with the reset button or by clearing site data.
How do I download my resume as a PDF?
Click Download PDF in the builder. Your browser's print dialog will open. For best results set Margins to None and uncheck Headers and footers, then choose Save as PDF. The output is 8.5×11 inch (US Letter).
Can I import an existing resume?
Yes. Click Import with AI in the builder or Use existing resume on the home page. Download the prompt file, upload it along with your existing resume to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any AI tool, then paste the JSON the AI returns. Your resume never touches our servers.
Which template should I use for online job applications?
Pick an ATS-friendly template like Atlas, Plain, or Stride. They use a single-column, machine-readable layout that applicant tracking systems parse reliably.
Does MyFirstResume support biodata for marriage?
Yes. Kalyaṇa is a traditional marriage biodata template with fields for family details, religion, gotra, nakshatra, and a closing note. Use Kalyaṇa for the version with a photo frame and Kalyaṇa · No photo for the photo-less version.
Can I switch templates after I've started typing?
Yes. Switching between resume and CV templates preserves your data. Your profile photo carries across all templates, including biodata. Switching between resume and biodata reseeds the sample fields because the data shape is different.
